Shipping

The Shipping function allows the user to pick and fill sales orders that need to be shipped. Shipping and picking personnel will most often use this screen. This screen has functionality to allow it to be based on “Case Picking” as the format for filling orders. This functionality is set in the “Master” Whistle System Settings.

Case Picking Overview

With Case Picking for Shipping turned on, the user will see the below menu instead of the Shipping Window after selecting “Shipping” from the Main Menu.

Case Picking breaks the Shipping workflow down into parts. These are “Staging”, “Loading” and “Shipping”. Each section allows a user to focus on the single particular part of the Shipping transaction without having to complete the entire transaction before moving on.

Staging

Staging is the operation where the user picks the assigned inventory for the Shipping Order and stage them in an area for the loading phase of the transaction.

Staging in accomplished by using the Whistle Dashboard to set up the Stage orders.

Order numbers are entered into the <Order #> field and assigned inventory is picked from the embedded result field showing each pallet and item.

Loading

Loading is the operation whereby the user loads the inventory that was picked and staged for the Sales Order onto the transportation.

Loading is accomplished by using the Whistle Dashboard to schedule the load operation for the Sales Order.

Shipping Items

Select ‘Shipping’ from the main menu to access the shipping menu or from the “Case Picking” Shipping Menu. This screen will also have a window-tab feature like Report Production and is accessed in the same way. (The example below is going to use the Shipping window for the entire transaction, including picking and loading which may be have been done separately if “Case Picking” was used by the user.)

Enter the sales order number of the order you wish to fill.

If you do not know the order number, press <Ctrl> and <A> to display a list of open shipping orders that need to be filled.

Use the arrow and/or tab keys to highlight the order that you want to fill. Press ‘Enter’.

Whistle will return to the main shipping screen with the correct sales order number.

Picklist

NOTE!! Whistle must generate a PICKLIST for all Shipping Orders that you want to fill. A PICKLIST is a list of specific containers that are allocated to filling the particular sales order. Once you generate a PICKLIST, all conainers on the PICKLIST will be reserved for use by that sales order alone. The containers will not be able to be used for anything else. If a PICKLIST has not been generated for this order, Whistle will ask you if you would like to generate one at this time. Select <YES> to generate a PICKLIST. Be patient, for this may take a little time.

The cursor will automatically move to the ‘<Pick Options>’ option.

Press ‘Enter’ to view a list of Pick Options.
