Miscellaneous
Whistle offers several other features that can be found in the Miscellaneous menu. Many of the Miscellaneous functions are maintenance related.
The following is a list of the available functions that can be found in the Miscellaneous Menu window :
- Version - Displays the version of Whistle being executed.
- Labels - Displays the Labels Menu
- Change Whs (Warehouse) - Allows the changing of the user’s ERP context.
- Printer - Displays the Printer Select screen for changing and adding printers.
- Char (Character) Map - Displays the Console Char Map
- Whistle Settings - Displays the Master Whistle Settings window.
- Generate Report - Displays the Reports window.
- Edit Dict (Dictionary) - Displays the Edit Dictionary window.
- Maintenance - Displays the Maintenance Menu window.

Version Window
This window simply displays the splash screen and relevant version of the currently executing Whistle program.
Labels - Labels Menu
This Labels window displays a menu with the following choices :
Print Ticket
Used to print individual pallet tags. Simply enter the desired tracking number of an existing pallet. You may choose the output printer and the number of copies to be printed.
Print Cs Label
Used to print individual case label tags. Simply enter the tracking number of an existing pallet in the Track # field. You may now choose an item from the item fields using the A-Z keys. Into the <LABEL> field goes the case ID for which the label is to be printed. Output printer and the number of copies can also be specified from this window. There are two screen settings available for this window. Print Label Doc - inputfield. This setting specifies the print label file to be used instead of the default. USE UCC128 - checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will use a UCC128 barcode font scheme.
Preprint
Used to preprint labels for use when network or database activity prevents runtime work to take place. These labels can be applied for work to continue and provide scanning ability when the network or database connectivity recovers. Output printer and the number of copies can also be specified from this window.
Change Whs (Warehouse)
This window allows the user to change the ERP context by updating the relevant company, warehouse, plant and branch values.
Printer
This window called Printer Select, allows maintenance on printers to be used by Whistle.
The Printer, Description and Rotate fields may be scrolled through with the A-Z keys.
Use the <Select> button to declare the default printer. Use the <Delete> button to delete the currently displayed printer definition.
By entering a Name, Description and Rotation (in degrees), a user may :
Use the <Add Printer> button to add the newly defined printer. Use the <Update> button to update an existing printer definition.
Char (Character) Map
This window displays the current Console Character Map window by showing each bracketed character range and their corresponding display.
Whistle Settings
This window displays the System Settings window (The Master Whistle Settings).
The settings are broken up into three tab pages accessible by using the F1, F2, & F3 keys or its alternate, Ctrl-F and the corresponding page number (eg Ctrl-F, 2).
The settings are as follows :
- DB Name
- inputfield. This setting takes the Database Name.
- DB User
- inputfield. This setting takes the Database Username assigned to Whistle.
- DB Pass
- inputfield. This setting takes the Database Password assigned to the DB User.
- DB Type
- scrollfield. This setting declares the Database type (Sql Server or Informix).
- Debug
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will run in debug mode.
- Use Tasking
- With this option turned on, Whistle will use tasking functionality.
- Use DayCode
- With this option turned on, Whistle will use DayCodes where appropriate.
- Use MQ
- With this option turned on, Whistle will use MQ messaging where appropriate.
- Turn off over full pallet warning
- With this option turned on, Whistle will turn off the over-full pallet warning message boxes.
- Adage Version
- scrollfield. This setting is to declare the ERP system type and version.
- Use Adage Lots
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will use Adage ERP lots in conjunction with Whistle lot tracking.
- Rollback transaction if print fails? - checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will rollback database transactions should a related print request fail.
- Mailserver IP
- inputfield. This setting takes a mailserver IP address for outgoing mail messages.
- WSL Server IP
- inputfield. This setting takes the Whistle Server IP address for connectivity.
- PrintServer IP
- inputfield. This setting takes the printserver IP address for outgoing print requests.
- ATF Path
- inputfield. This setting takes the file path for outbound middle-ware transaction files.
- Handheld Lines
- inputfield. This setting takes the line-number maximum for handheld displays.
- Handheld Columns
- inputfield. This setting takes the column-number maximum for handheld displays.
- Hard Hold Location
- inputfield. This setting takes an ERP stock location for the corresponding Hard Holds in Whistle. This is usually a non-nettable stock location where inventory is specifically moved when hard holding inventory.
- Move to Deleted bin instead of purge.
- checkbox. With this option turned on, container pallets that are quashed are moved to the “deleted” bin instead of being permanently purged from the container record tables.
- Num. of Report Prod Tab Fields
- inputfield. This setting takes the number of report production tab fields the users want available.
- Auto fill-in origin bin
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will auto-fill the bin location of all tracking numbers input by the user instead of requiring their entry for verification.
- Ultralite
- track# : inputfield. This setting is the starting value for the Ultralite tracking numbers to be used in conjunction with Ultralite functionality.
- Do IBP interfaces
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will send ASN’s to IBP customers.
- IBP Path
- inputfield. This setting is the file path location for outbound IBP customer ASN’s to be placed in.
- Cache Server IP
- inputfield. This setting is the location for the cache server IP address. Typically this is set to “local”.
- AutoFind Untracked Lot
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will auto-find lot numbers of untracked item when appropriate.
- Do TARGET interfaces
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will send ASN’s to Target customers.
- Target Path
- inputfield. This setting is the file path location for outbound Target customer ASN’s to be placed in.
- No Lowercase
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will not allow the use of lower case entries.
- OutsourcedProdPlant
- inputfield. This setting, if filled, will trigger a new menu selection called “Outsourced Prod” which appears on the Production Menu. The Outsourced Production window operates similarly to the standard Report Production window, however, the production transaction that is committed takes place in the context of the plant that is specified as the OutsourceProdPlant with the output becoming inventory in the users local plant. Example : Back-flushing will occur in Plant 2, but the new pallet will be in Plant 1.
- Allow user to overfill bin
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will allow the overfilling of a bin volume.
- Adaptive Binfield checkdigit
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will print half of a bin label with a check-digit, half without.
- Warn on overfill bin
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will warn the user with a message box when a bin is about to be overfilled.
- Case Pick
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will turn on the case picking functionality.
- Check lot codes on loading
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will activate a lot specification matching system prior to making Loads. This feature requires setup.
- Num. of Issue Prod Tab Fields
- inputfield. This setting is the number of tab screen fields available for the Production Issue window.
- Days To Keep Log
- inputfield. This setting is used to specify the length of days to keep log file entries before being trimmed.
- Empty bins on picking
- checked. With this option turned on, Whistle’s picking logic will prefer empty bins over FIFO (First in First out) bins.
- Prefer Put Empty Single
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle’s picking logic will prefer an empty bin over an otherwise optimal location.
- Ignore pallet qty on putaway
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle’s putaway logic will not prefer to put away a partial pallet (non-full pallet) in a bin that normally only holds a single pallet.
- Intra-container print delay
- inputfield. This setting holds the value in milliseconds to delay a print action based on some printer’s individual needs.
- Allow decimal qty for all uoms
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will allow decimal quantities to be used for all UOM conversions.
- Auto save screens for user
- checkbox. With this option turned on, Whistle will auto-save screen data for each user.
- Auto span SO lines for identical items
- checkbox. With this setting turned on, Whistle will split the loaded quantity between two same product sales order lines. Otherwise, all quantity will go to the first order line for the product.
- Settings Password
- inputfield. This setting is used to specify the password for all settings windows.
Generate Report
This displays the Reports menu window. This menu gives the user the following choices :
- Print Receipt
- Print Shipment
- Print Inventory
- Cont (Container) History
- Exception Log
- QC Report
- SSCC Label
Print Receipt
To print a Receiving Report, enter either the Receipt # or the PO # into to corresponding field. Ctrl-A works on the PO field. Printing occurs to the default printer.
Print Shipment
To print a Shipping Report, enter the SO # into the SO # field. Printing occurs to the default printer.
Print Inventory
This option will give a report of all inventory in the current warehouse by the follow criteria :

Cont (Container) History
This option will bring up the Container History window. This window will display the complete history of a container and allow for the addition of comments to a container’s history entry.
Enter a tracking # into the Track # field (Ctrl-T also works).
The history display will be shown in the imbedded result window which is searchable with the arrow keys.
To add a comment to any history record for a given pallet - select the desire history record and arrow down to the <Comment> field. Enter the comment that will be attached to the selected history record and arrow down to the <Update> button. Pressing <Enter> will commit the comment addition transaction.
Exception Log
This option will bring up the Exception History window. This window accepts search criteria for the following fields :
Track # User Name Date From Date To
By specifying any, all or none of this criteria, Whistle will search the exception entries or matches and display the results in an embedded result window for viewing.
QC Report
QC Reports are available by date from this window.
SSCC Label
This window will direct Whistle to print an SSCC label based on the input of a valid tracking number and the Order # to which the label will be tied for the printing. The destination printer and number of copies to print may be set from this window as well.
Edit Dict (Dictionary)
This window allows the user the edit available dictionaries.
Maintenance
This selection displays the Maintenance Menu for which the following are options :
- User Params
- CatchWeight Maint (Maintenance)
User Params
This window allows the User Parameters for a given Company/Warehouse to be specified.
Currently, only the wms_contdtl_tbl holds user-params.
The [Param] scroll-field designates the parameter being defined. The [Name] and [Short Name] inputfields take the naming values for the parameter. The [Type] field denotes the field’s data type (text or datetime). The [Min] & [Max] fields denote the minimum and maximum values for the parameter value. The [Default] field holds the default value for the parameter.
The following transaction checkboxes are used to associate the parameter with Whistle transactions. Receiving Report Prod Build Pallet Report Misc Report CW (CatchWeighted)
The [Required] checkbox denotes obligatory use of the parameter. The [Hold List] checkbox denotes use of the parameter in using the value for hold status. The [SQL] text form takes associated SQL statements to be used by the parameter often for validation use.
CatchWeight Maint (Maintenance)
This window is used to maintenance and setup the catchweighted definitions for item/packs in Whistle. And Item and Pack are designated as a Sub-lotted, catchweighted item in the first two fields, [Item] & [Pack]. The following fields are to be defined for their use in defining the catchweighted item/pack. Cust Item Min Weight Max Weight Tare Weight Net Wt SCC Freeze By Peel By Back Date Sell By
